Summer = Beach. To be honest, no one could ever spend their summer without at least 1 trip to the beach. Luckily for me, I had two. One at Santorini and another at Sihanoukville.
Summer is kind of (I still have another month till uni starts) coming to an end now. So this is a post for you beach-lovers a round up of my time getting roasted in the sun with salty water getting into my eyes.
I’ll only post photos from Santorini because I didn’t take much photos at Sihanoukville!
Santorini was so so good. Typing the words just makes me so excited to go back there again someday. It was one of my go-to places in my bucket list. If any of you are planning to travel to Europe during summer (preferably June to September, other months may be too cold), Santorini is a must! It’ll give you the perfect Instagram feed along with photos of the amazing views you get.
One bad thing about Santorini are the stairs that you’ll have to climb through to get the perfect view. But who cares about the stairs if you’ll get breathtaking views right?
I went there for only 3 days and 2 nights and honestly I wished I stayed for a whole month to explore the whole island properly. Due to time constraints, I only visited Thira and a bit of Oia on the island.
Before the trip, I was basically going on a shopping spree for so clothes so my outfits match the vibe at Santorini. Don’t judge, I had no summer clothes in London at the time. Here’s a list of places I went shopping/online shopping at:
- Brandy Melville – you can never go wrong with simple t-shirts and crop tops
- Topshop – high waisted jeans, short jeans, jeans in general.
- Miss Selfridge – dresses, and the PETITE section
- Urban Outfitters – flowy dresses and blouses
- Ray-Bans – get them reflectives out!
- Calvin Klein – they’ve just released a swimwear line
- Victoria Secret – there’s always a bunch of bikinis lining up for you here
- Jets Swimwear – must-buy swimsuits and bikinis
- Aldo – sandals to handle the sand
- Zara – what can go wrong at Zara?
Sihanoukville (KPS) is just the place to be for beautiful sunsets and white sand. The water may not be as clear as other beaches around the world but it’s still relaxing to chill by the beach with some fries and a Shirley Temple. Unicorn and Flamingo floats are a must for a tan by the pool.
If you’re feeling adventurous, take a boat to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samleom where the water’s clearer and the fish are brighter. Take a snorkel and find yourself seeing sea urchins and small little harmless fish swimming around you.
If you’re looking for a quiet time by the beach, try going to Otres Beach or Queenco Beach. It’s much less crowded than Sokha Beach and Ocherteal Beach.
At night, buy yourself some fireworks and light them up to round up your beach getaway at Sihanoukville.
Next on my places-to-go bucket list beach destinations are Mykonos, Sardinia, and possibly Bali. Hopefully I get to travel to those beaches where the water is clearer than my goals in life. Joking, I have a goal, kind of.
Till next time beach,
Kim Bouy Tang
